Name: Born as Anthony Toretto but prefers Tony or Mr T around friends and family.
Date of Birth: 2nd September 1968
Date of Death: 14th July 2008
Born as an only child to Christian and Nicola Toretto, a small time mechanic and auto shop owner and a hospice nurse, Tony spent his early years living with his parents in the family home located in Echo Park, LA.
In 1983 at the age of 15 Tony started at the local high school where he met his girlfriend Isabella De Luca. The De Luca's were a well known and somewhat wealthy family that had moved to Echo Park a year previously. Dominic De Luca, the father of Isabella, was angered to find his only daughter dating the son of a low income mechanic. Without a second thought Dominic De Luca banned his daughter from dating or having any contact with Tony. Being the loyal daughter she was, Isabella agreed to her father's terms and refused contact with the young Tony leaving him angered at her rejection.
For Isabella is took six months of denying the deep feelings she held for the young Toretto before she cracked. After having spent six months in a forced relationship with another boy, one that her father deemed appropriate, Isabella cut ties and begged Tony for forgiveness. Despite being hurt and cautious of her sudden change in attitude, Tony couldn't deny he still held feelings for her so the two began to date in secret. With the help of a Isabella's ex, who had been more then relieved when their relationship ended, Tony and Isabella kept their relationship a secret from her parents for three years. The Toretto's, friends with almost everyone in the neighbourhood, took Isabella into the family with open arms. Although Christian and Nicola didn't approve of the secret relationship they understood Isabella's fear. Promising to keep things silent the continued on dating, Isabella often staying the nights her parents were out of town on business instead of at a friends.
In 1986, in the midst of their last year of school Isabella and Tony had to decide about the future. With Isabella's 18th birthday having just been celebrated, the two lovers made the decision to finally come clean. After exactly four years of careful sneaking around Isabella and Tony agreed they would go to her parents and admit the truth. After waiting three hours at their planned meeting spot, Tony knew something was wrong when Isabella failed to show.
It took one entire worrying week before Isabella resurfaced with shocking news; Dominic De Luca had fallen terminally ill and had been given just months to live. A grief stricken Isabella had spent the week thinking and had come to one decision- to not tell her parents about their relationship. Tony, understanding her reasons reluctantly agreed and their secret relationship continued.
Unbeknown to Isabella at the time, Tony had visited her ill father in the days leading up to graduation. Finally coming clean about their relationship, Tony asked for Dominic's permission to marry his daughter knowing it would mean the world to Isabella. An ill De Luca, seeing the love Tony held for his daughter, gave his blessing and along with it an apology filled with regret for keeping them apart.
On the 25th October 1986 the pair graduated high school alongside the rest of their classmates. Isabella, graduating at the top of her class got accepted into the nursing program at the local college while Tony had been taken on full time by his father as a mechanic. Due to previous planning the De Luca's and the Toretto's joined graduation parties, surprising Isabella when the ceremony was over. It was there, in front of both families and friends, that Tony asked for Isabella's hand in marriage. Overcome with emotions Isabella had broken down and said yes.
On the 18th September 1988 at the young age of 20, Tony and Isabella married. Due to the time frame between their engagement and their wedding, Dominic De Luca didn't live to see his daughter marry. After their marriage Tony and his new wife moved from their respective family homes and into a small apartment close to Isabella's college campus.
On the 13th July 1989 the pair welcomed their first born, a son, and named him Dominic in honour of Isabella's late father. The two had their share of marital problems; being new parents and juggling work and education led to a fair share of fights.
1991 at 23 years old, Tony's parents were involved in a fatal car accident. Their last will left Tony the family home and the garage. After much consideration and time,Tony and Isabella chose to sell their apartment and move into Tony's childhood home. Tony took over the work of his late father and began to build the low income business into a legacy for his family.
Four years later, in 1995 the pair welcomed their second child, Mia. Their eldest son, Dominic, now six years old started school the same year and Isabella graduated from college, working part time at the nearby hospital.
In 1998 the Toretto's world was shattered. Isabella, who had been sick with a cold, was diagnosed with stage four cancer. Isabella's cancer was aggressive and to far along for doctors to operate or successfully help with chemo. The doctor gave the grief stricken family a time frame of less than a year. Dominic, who was nine at the time, understood that his mother was sick and she wasn't going to get better. Tony and Isabella had made the decision to fully explain to Dominic what was going to happen and prepare him for the inevitable. Mia on the other hand, being only three years old, was too young to understand what was happening around her. Tony and Isabella shielding their younger child hurt of what was to come. In June 1998, only four months after being diagnosed, Isabella Toretto nee De Luca lost her battle to cancer. Tony, stricken with grief, remained strong for his children's sakes.
The years that passed were long and somewhat lonely for Tony, loosing the love of his life was something he could never fully get over. Admittedly a close family friend, with a small family of her own, drew Tony's attention just a few short years later. Maria Ortiz grew very close to Tony and the two developed deep feelings for one another. Maria, who was married, made it clear nothing could ever happen while Tony agreed.
In 2000 Tony decided to act on his dream of being a racer in the car circuit. He deemed Dominic old enough to look after his younger sister and not have to worry too much. Tony spent a year and half training and building up his race car with the help of Dom and his friend Vince. Much to Tony's surprise he won his first competitive race and was signed to the track.
In 2004 with the garage doing well and his race career picking up speed as well, Tony was sought out by Maria for help. Maria came clean to Tony about her husband's abusive ways.Tony, livid after hearing the truth about a person he called a friend for many years vowed to help Maria by getting her and her daughter out of harms way.
Three years later, before the death of her husband, Maria and Tony talked about their relationship once more. Coming to a sad mutual agreement, both understood after coming to terms with the fact that her daughter, Letty, and Dom may very well have something real years later down the track. Neither wanting the awkwardness, they agreed to remain friends.
Anthony Toretto died on the 14th July 2008, in a race car accident during the final race for the season.
