O’Conner House
Letty’s POV
“Are you sure you’re okay to do this today?” I asked as I sat on the bed, watching Dom as he got dressed.
“Baby I’m okay. I’ve been a good boy and stayed in bed for three days, but Let I’m going stir crazy. Looking at houses with you and Ava isn’t exactly heavy stuff.” He laughed, placing a kiss on my head as he finished with his buttons.
“I guess, I just don’t want you to overdo it.” I worried as I bit my lip.
“Baby relax. I’ll be fine, and I promise if I start to feel any pain or sick we’ll come home and I’ll rest okay?” He offered and I smiled a little before nodding.
“Good. Now show me this amazing house?” He purred as he joined me on the bed with my laptop.
Dom’s POV
“It’s almost perfect. It has a big backyard, a shed and a garage.” She hinted, trying to sell that point which made me laugh.
“Backyard sounds amazing but what about inside?” I whispered in her ear before I nipped it gently.
“Uhh… hmm?” She questioned as she shivered in my arms. I chuckled, pulling away a bit so that she could think.
‘Hormones.’ I reminded myself.
“Inside?” I asked smiling and she pouted.
“Four bedrooms, two bathrooms. The master bedroom has an en suit with a bath.”
“A bath huh?” I grinned, my mind automatically thinking about the possibilities.
“Umm…Big kitchen, big lounge and dinning. It has a small office we could use for the shop and garage filing. It’s not far from the garage and shop either.” She went on shakily as she too got side tracked by the word ‘bath’.
“Sounds amazing, question though.” I asked and she turned to me expectantly.
“Any purple rooms?” I grinned.
“Yeah, the en suit is. Really awesome purple tiles.” She spoke seriously and my humour evaporated.
“Oh…well that’s good. Is it a dark purple or… a light one?” I asked kind of scared of the answer.
“Darkish. I was thinking maybe we could paint a purple feature wall in the main room, you know to tie it all in together?” I tried not to look horrified at the thought of more purple as I nodded.
“Uh yeah we can.. um do that.” I let trail off as we stared at one another.
“You hate the idea.”
“No, no baby I don’t hate the idea. I think it’s a great idea. This is your choice and if you want a purple feature wall I’ll give you one.” I rushed through my words as I tried my best to appease her. If my woman wanted purple I would suck up my pride, man up and give her purple.
The silence that settled between us again made me worry. Had I said something wrong?
“I know you don’t like purple, I know you’d probably prefer blue or some other colour but I really want the purple, just in our room. I don’t care what the rest of the house is.” She sniffed as she rubbed her eyes and I panicked.
“Baby don’t cry, please don’t cry. If you want purple baby I’ll fucking paint the whole house, inside and out purple if that’s what makes you happy. I love purple. I really do. It’s going to look amazing.” I soothed as I rubbed her back.
“You are such a push over and you are a horrible liar.” She laughed as she looked up at me. No tears, no hint of sadness just humour. I’d been played.
“That’s not nice Let.” I groaned as I buried my face in her neck.
“I’m sorry I couldn’t help it.” She giggled.
“I hate purple.” I whined.
“I know, you can relax the bathroom is white.”
“Thank fuck.” I muttered.
“But seriously though, I do want a purple feature wall. The house doesn’t come with that, that’s what you, a paint brush and a bucket of paint is for.” She teased.
“You for real??” I asked seriously.
“I’m for real.” She spoke and I sighed.
“Okay I will paint you a purple feature wall.”
“Thank you, I promise no other purple.” She giggled before placing her lips on mine.
Letty’s POV
“Are you sure this is the right one?” Dom asked as we pulled up in front of a really old, really run down looking house.
“That’s not what the picture looked like.” I muttered as we sat staring at the house. With the money we had between us now we didn’t need to worry about expense but that didn’t mean we were going to go out and a buy a million dollar mansion either. But looking at this house now in the flesh made it feel a little bit ‘under’ us. I turned to look at Dom but he smiled with a shrug.
“It’s up to you baby, we can have a look or we can cancel with the agent.”
“I just don’t understand, it looks nothing like the picture. I fell in love with the pictured house, not… this.” I mumbled as I jerked my head forwards.
“Well let’s not rule it out just yet. Who knows maybe it’s exactly like the pictures on the inside? We can redo the front.” He offered and I bit my lip in thought.
“Okay, we’ll take a look.” I agreed.
“I’ll get Ava.” He spoke and was out of the car before I had a chance to disagree. I scowled at him as I got out of the car.
“You shouldn’t be carrying her, you’re still on bed rest.” I reminded him as I joined his side.
“I have one good arm.” He motioned, dropping a kiss on my lips before he shut and locked the car up.
“It needs a lot of work.” I whispered to Dom as we carefully walked up the unstable path to the front door.
“We have the money.” He soothed me as he placed his bad arm carefully around my waist.
“It’s not the money I’m worried about. It’s the time we don’t have.”
“If this is the house you want I’ll make it work.” He spoke, pressing a kiss to my temple before ringing the doorbell.
Dom and I both plastered smiles on our faces as the door opened but mine dropped instantly as I came face to face with a blast from the past.
Michelle Tran hadn’t changed a bit, except in age and the wardrobe department.
The awkward tension that settled over the three of us was thick and if I wasn’t so shocked I would have turned and walked away but I couldn’t. I was frozen in place.
“It’s been a long time… Letty I almost didn’t recognise you.” She spoke slowly. I crossed my arms over my chest and glared at the woman.
“Michelle.” I snapped. Dom’s hand was immediately at my back, rubbing soothing circles at the base but I was too wired up for it to have any affect.
